About the brand:

PrairieSiren began in the winter of 2020 in a small farmhouse kitchen in Westby, Montana. During the lockdowns, founder KayMarie started making her own skincare to calm her sensitive skin after years of irritation from store-bought products. While working as a farmhand, she spent her free time learning how to render tallow and create simple, gentle formulas that actually worked. What started as a personal project slowly grew into a small business. Today, PrairieSiren continues to make those same honest, carefully crafted products for anyone looking for skincare that feels real and dependable.

Why tallow skincare?

At first, using animal fats in skincare can seem unusual. Many people feel unsure about it until they try it. After years of struggling with sensitive skin and never finding lasting relief from plant-based products, our founder discovered that tallow made all the difference.

Tallow closely matches the natural oils our skin produces (duh! we're animals too), so it’s easily absorbed and deeply nourishing. Because it’s bio-identical to our own fats, the skin recognizes it and responds with balance rather than irritation. Unlike many plant oils that lose effectiveness over time, tallow continues to support and strengthen the skin with consistent use. It’s a simple, natural approach to skincare that works in harmony with the body. Not to mention, tallow products are nothing new! Humans have been using tallow for millennia in various applications including skincare, cooking, and fuel.

Is PrairieSiren organic certified?

Our tallow is not certified organic, and that choice is intentional. The “organic” label can sound reassuring, but the standards behind it don’t always guarantee the quality we believe in. For example, animals on certified organic farms can still spend time in crowded feedlots and be fed grain or soy, which affects both their health and the purity of the fat they produce. Instead of relying on certification, we work directly with trusted suppliers who raise 100% grass-fed, pasture-raised animals on healthy soil, free from pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and heavy metals. Many small farms that follow these high standards choose not to pursue organic certification because it’s expensive and time-consuming, and those costs often end up passed on to customers.

We choose to focus on real practices over labels, partnering with producers we know and trust to provide the cleanest, most nutrient-rich tallow possible.
