PrairieSiren was born in the winter of 2020, in a small farmhouse kitchen located in the tiny northeastern town of Westby, Montana. Amid the COVID-19 lockdowns, owner KayMarie experimented with creating natural skincare recipes with tallow. After much trial and error honing the perfect render, skincare and soap recipes, PrairieSiren's proven formulations are now available to you. Your skin will thank you!
WHY TALLOW FOR SKINCARE?
Welcome to the beautiful world of Paleoskincare. At first glance animal fats in skincare can seem a bit odd, maybe even completely off putting to some. I know for myself at first, I wasn't thinking it would be something life changing for my skin. I surely wasn't thinking it would be such a drastic difference from the traditional plant based holistic skincare I was used to using for my entire life in dealing with my very sensitive and problematic skin, but it was. It was actually the end to my never ending search as my skin could never keep up. Tallow for skincare is hands down the BEST and here is the simple science behind it. We too are animals, the tallow is recognized on our skin as Bio-Identical to our own fats. Plants have their place but alone your skin adapts and adjusts to them and you will constantly need to continue changing it up as skin builds up a tolerance. With tallow your skin doesn't recognize it as an outsider so it will be just as effective after prolonged use as the very first time and in fact, just keeps getting better. Take your skin out of the never ending keep up game, It will thank you.
Organic?
Our tallow is NOT certified organic, because organic standards are not good enough for us or you. The friendly "organic" certification can be somewhat misleading. For example, did you know organically raised cows can still spend months in crowded and unsanitary feedlots eating grain and soy? This is why we make sure our suppliers use the best methods in production, which include a 100% grass-fed, pasture-raised, non-toxic approach to farming with healthy soil and an ecosystem free of pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and heavy metals. It is costly and time-consuming for a farm to be certified organic, so many excellent producers choose not to be--especially because the ongoing costly expense of organic certification is inevitably passed on to the consumer. For these reasons, consumers choose to "certify" the products they purchase by buying directly from suppliers they trust, and we do that in your place when obtaining the ingredients for our tallow.
